Ted's Videos

** NEW FEATURE! ** Now you can view videos of Ted playing. Many of these videos are educational, with Ted demonstrating different techniques and rudiments, but some are fun as well. Also, be sure to check back often as we post more videos in the near future, and perhaps some direct video responses to questions Ted often hears from students.

view a video of John performing.

John Sherman Fowler - 11/21/1965 - 3/21/2008

John was a natural talent. He worked on everything I had to teach him, learning it well. John ate, slept and dreamed drumming.

I'll miss you John- Ted

Ted MacKenzie: A third generation drummer, Ted studied with Henry Adler in the late 1960's. Over the past 30 years he has taught the Rich-Adler method to hundreds of students.

Ted MacKenzie studied with Henry Adler in the late 60s and revised the author's #1 best selling snare drum method book "Buddy Rich's Modern Interpretation of Snare Drum Rudiments" in 2005. Now Ted has written the follow-up book, "Buddy Rich's Rudiments Around the Kit & DVD". This method applies every rudiment in Buddy's original snare drum book to the drum set.

Ted's 40 years of teaching "The Drummers Bible", inspired him in 2006 to create "The Ultimate Drummer's Work Out". This is a resistance method, using an old drummers tool, wire brushes. Using "The Ultimate Drummer's Work Out" principles on this DVD you'll soon acquire:

  • Proper turning of the wrists
  • A relaxed, stress-free grip
  • Ability to control accents at will
  • A bigger and better sound
  • Speed, accuracy & attack
  • Perfection in rudimental drumming!

In addition to authoring various study materials, Ted also maintains a daily schedule of private lessons to local drummers, including Jason Bitner of ‘Shadows Falls', and in the coming months will be presenting, in conjunction with DrumART.com, a series online video instruction available to anyone on his website.

Please check back soon for more details. In the meantime, enjoy a quick video of Ted and Maverick ‘jamming' together…
